Meet our instructors:
Dana Phelan: Yin and Restorative Yoga
Dana’s Story: Introduced to yoga about 10 years ago to get more toned, I liked it, but it only had a “purpose” for my body. As the years went by, I went in and out of practicing yoga and my interest turned to increasing my flexibility…yoga served a new purpose. I let my yoga practice slip because I was only focused on fitness and wasn’t connecting to the mindfulness aspect. Coming back to yoga, I learned that it was becoming a place and space for me to connect with myself, close my eyes, go inside. I learned to expand my breath, calm my mind, and flex my belief system. I continued this journey and let yoga be my space for reflection, which is what lead me to taking Yin Yoga. I became certified in teaching Yin and Restorative Yoga and have created a class that allows my students to rest, restore, and be still. I use music, poems, mindfulness statements, breath-work, and essential oils to nurture my students.
Jennifer Merritt: Gentle Yoga for Everyone (Series or Drop In)
Jen has been practicing Yoga since 2001 and trained at Yandara Yoga Institue in 2005. She began her study of healing arts with massage therapy and has been interested in the mind, body connection ever since. She is a licensed massage therapist, certified yoga teacher for both adults and kids, certified hypnotherapist and completed a year and a half program in Ayurveda Life Counseling. She has witnessed amazing changes for herself and others around her with these techniques.
Jen is so grateful to share them with you.
Her favorite quote is “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
